Many of the families that visit our Vendee Campsites head to some of the region’s attractions. Beyond the seemingly endless beaches and surf schools, including Wave School in La Tranche Sur Mer, close to our Les Conches campsite Vendee has many things for families to see and do. Adventure in Vendee If your family enjoy full on adventure, there are a number of places that offer high, yet safe treetop adventures along rope bridges, ladders and down zip wires. These include Le Grand Defi near Saint Julien des Landes, Explora Parc near Saint Jean de Monts and Feeling Forest near our campsite in Saint Hilaire de Riez. Some of these places offer more basic courses for younger children, but they will especially appeal to school aged children and teenagers. Alternative adventures can be had at La Haras de la Vendee (an important horse riding school where you can visit horses, or sign up for a trek), Martini Racing Kart in Challans and the Atlantic Toboggan water park. For younger children Chateau des Aventuries in Avrille is a treasure hunt through the chateau and grounds. Vendee Theme Parks Although they are not as well-known and busy as Disneyland Paris, Vendee also has a couple of theme parks. Puy du Fou is located in the grounds of a chateau. It is a historic theme park with characters that bring the history to life through exciting re-enactments, entertaining displays and demonstrations. Another is Futurescope near Poiters, where a series of large 3D cinema screens take you on virtual rides and you can gain impressive views from the top of a tower. Animal Attractions If you prefer to spend your time in the company of animals, Zoo des Sables is close to our campsite in Sables d’Olonne and a little further away is Natur Zoo de Mervent. There is also a butterfly attraction L’ile aux Papillions in La Gueriniere. Natural wildlife in its own habitat can be seen in the regional park of Marais Poitevin. You can enjoy a boat trip along the waterways of these traditional salt marshes which is now home to a wide array of birds, insects and water loving animals. Vendee Campsite Entertainment Don’t forget that if you are staying on a Vendee campsite, your family can also enjoy the on-site swimming pools, games rooms, play areas and Carisma Children’s Club. Many sites also include sports facilities such as tennis courts, table tennis and mini golf.
