For gardening enthusiasts, or those seeking tranquillity exploring gardens can provide an enjoyable holiday pastime. As we visit gardens in other countries we see plants that would struggle to survive in the British climate, new planting combinations and different styles of layout and design. If you are staying at our campsite in Biscarrosse you may like to head inland for a day, to visit some of the impressive gardens in the region. Jardins du Chateau de Mongenan This is an example of the classic French style of gardening. Along with the geometric knot gardens, you can also discover ornamental plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables which together provide colour and interest throughout the year. You may also like to buy a bottle of red or white wine which is produced in the chateau’s vineyards. Les Jardins de Sardy The focus of these gardens is a central pond which is planted with waterlilies. Surrounding the pond are impressive gardens, which are largely planted with a blue colour theme. Exploring the garden offers great viewpoints of the main features and the wider landscape, so you can appreciate it from many different perspectives. Les Jardins de Sardy are open from May until September. Le Jardin de Boissonna This garden has been planted in a traditional English style, with a wide range of roses. However, these are combined with heat loving plants including Lemon and Cyprus trees to add a Mediterranean twist. Le Jardin de Boissonna promotes organic gardening and celebrates the abundant birdlife that is attracted to its plants and trees. It is open from April until October. Les Jardins de Beauchamp Awarded the title of ‘Jardin Remarquable’ this garden takes its inspiration from around the globe. There is an oriental pond filled with Koi Carp, as well as French, Italian and English gardens to explore. You will also find a garden centre on site, should you desire a new addition to your own garden. Les Jardins de Beauchamp are open all year from Tuesday until Saturday. Parc du Sarrat Further south and in closer proximity to the Messanges campsite //www.carisma.co.uk/camping-le-vieux-port-messanges.html#tab-0 Parc du Sarrat is a contemporary garden created by Rene Guichemerre to surround his modern home. It includes a landscaped garden, water features, vegetable gardens, and an orchard. The garden is located near Dax and is open from March to November.
