The Vendee is packed with stellar attractions to keep the whole family entertained during a sojourn into the Pays-de-la-Loire region of western France. One of the best ways to spend a day if you have children with you is a trip to one of the many great amusement parks that are dotted across this charming section of the country.
Here, we take a look at some of the best parks to visit during your stay in the Vendee.
Atlantic Toboggan is a great water park that couldn't be better situated. It can be found in St Hilaire, along the Vendee's exquisite Atlantic coastline, which also happens to be home to one of our most popular campsites. Throughout the summer months, the large park invites families to enjoy thrilling rides such as the Boa and Kamikaz, take a dip in the giant wave pool, bathe in warm geysers or simply enjoy a felaxing ride across its huge lake.
Puy du Fou
A theme park with a difference, Puy du Fou is located in Les Epesses the heart of the Vendee province, approximately one hour and 15 minutes by car from our number one campsite in Les Sables. The historical park boasts plenty of amazing shows from across the span of time.
Here, you'll be able to marvel at everything from Roman chariot racing to epic Viking naval battles and jousting contests between dashing medieval knights hoping to curry favour with fair maidens. The park has risen to become one of the most popular attractions in all of France, and attracts in excess of 1.5 million visitors every year, so book ahead to avoid disappointment, especially if you intend to travel during the peak summer season.
About an hour and a half's drive north of Les Sables, you'll come to the picturesque Ile de Noirmoutier, a picturesque island in the Atlantic that is connected to the mainland by the Passage du Gois. Upon the island, you will also find Oceanile, one of the very best water parks in the Vendee. It is equipped with plenty of great slides and pools, as well as rapids for the brave-hearted and plenty of great shows.
