France is a country full of treasures. Each region has its own cultures, traditions, specialities and scenery, so there is always something new to discover. The locals are very proud of where they live and enjoy showcasing the best of their country and particularly region. Whatever you desire from a holiday is on offer in France; from beautiful sandy beaches to rugged coastline, tranquil retreats to adventure resorts. There are mountain peaks that attract thousands of skiers every winter and beaches that draw sun worshipers every summer. You can discover rural villages where people enjoy a simple life, or marinas full of expensive yachts and casinos. Each time you visit France, you can experience a different holiday, depending on your choice of destination. There is history in abundance, along with the latest fashions and contemporary architecture. You can head for remote mountains or bustling cities. Your taste buds can enjoy the pleasures of regional foods and wines, whilst your eyes can delight at some of the world’s best known art. Along with the popular resorts, there are some less well known regions that have plenty to attract holiday makers from within France and abroad. At Carisma, we love Vendee, a warm coastal region in the west of France. Vendee is boarded by golden beaches and Atlantic surf, making it ideal for family holidays or activity breaks. Away from the coast, the region is mostly rural and tranquil. The terrain is relatively flat and served by miles of dedicated cycle paths that allow visitors to easily explore the countryside on bikes. It is still possible to find fishing harbours and villages that have remained largely unchanged for decades, but there are also towns and cities full of modern attractions to please all family members. Camping in Vendee offers you a great opportunity to explore the area without time restraints. Our well-equipped mobile homes have all the essentials you need, they are positioned close to the sandy beaches and many offer bike hire and maps of the region. Self-catering means you can combine family favourites with local specialities, but most of our Vendee campsites also have a restaurant or take away if you prefer a night off. Local towns also offer a full range of places to eat no matter what your taste or budget; from ice creams to oysters. Our campsites in Vendee can be reached with a 6 – 7 hour drive from Calais, or a shorter drive from the other ferry ports in Northern France. There are also airports in Nantes and La Rochelle which are a short drive away. If you are looking for the ideal destination for your family holiday, Vendee has a lot to offer, which is why many of our guests return.
