The Vendee is among the best-known holiday destinations that line the Atlantic coast and is an ideal destination for an enjoyable family holiday.
There are various reasons for this, of course, but the most obvious of these is that there are some beautiful beaches in this area of the country.
And during the summertime, in particular, you are sure to have an amazing time soaking in the sun rays and playing on the golden sand.
As an alternative, you may actually wish to engage with some water sports. Surfing and windsurfing are hugely popular in the Vendee, and so if you do regard yourself as an outdoors type then this is the holiday destination for you.
However, there's more to the region than may first be apparent to visitors. The Vendee is actually divided into four distinct regions, namely the Coastal Region, the Marais, the Plaine and the Bocage.
They each have their own unique features, yet some are universal. For instance, the coastal regions each feature long beaches that boast golden sand, which is perfect for those who are keen to enjoy the sunshine or take a dip in the water.
The beaches are backed by sand dunes, which are ideal if you want to enjoy a run in the sunshine. In some areas, however, you will encounter some low cliffs.
As you make your way down the coast you will come across locations of various different shapes, sizes and styles. There are, for instance, plenty of fishing villages and charming coastal towns.
This is great in the sense that you have a range of destinations from which to choose. Just pick the one that most suits your particular vibe and head in that direction.
With so much to see and do in the region, you won't regret booking a break to the Vendee.
