For a perfect beach holiday, there are few destinations in Europe that can quite match the all-round appeal of Brittany, which is home to a wide array of spectacular beaches and much else besides.
The coastline boasts an incredible selection of beaches, which are great places to either soak in the summer sunshine or enjoy water sports.
If you're a fan of surfing, for instance, then this is the ideal destination for the sport as the waves rank among the very best in the continent and if you've got little children with you, the beaches are great if they just want to play about on the sand.
Alternatively, you could just take a good book with you to sit on the beach as you lie in the sun. Occasionally - just occasionally - you can dip your toes in the water as a means of cooling off.
There is, however, more to this region than may be immediately apparent, as there are loads of great historic sites to enjoy as well as some spectacular nature.
So, if you're keen to learn a little bit more about the historic evolution of this fascinating destination then you'd be well advised heading to one of the many great museums that are waiting to be discovered.
What's more, the region is also home to some historic ruins that are sure to go some way towards explain how Brittany has been transformed to what it once was the vibrant holiday destination that it has become.
For something a little less intense, however, you could take a picnic to the beautiful countryside that can be found in the region.
There are loads of great natural sights to be enjoyed as you eat some homemade sandwiches or sample some top French wine.
