With busy working lives and packed daily routines, finding time when all the family can join together for an activity presents quite a challenge. This is one of the reasons why a family holiday is often one of the most desired events of the year. A family holiday allows us the space to spend quality time together and build on our relationships.
Often the happiest family memories are of times when we were taking part in simple pleasures, such as building sandcastles, a game of catch or a picnic at the park. As well as being a great opportunity to discover new things, a holiday is also a chance to get to know each other better. Without the usual distractions, holidays are also a good time to help our children develop new skills, such as learning to ride a bike or swim without armbands.
Finding the right location for your family holiday is the first step. Tropical beaches may sound idyllic to adults, but they have less entertainment value for children and toddlers can struggle in the hot sun. You may aspire to a luxurious hotel, but with children in tow you can be restricted by meal times and unable to benefit from a cocktail bar, spa or other facilities. Self-catering accommodation often provides the most convenient and flexible option for a family holiday, so take a look at Carisma’s well-equipped mobile homes.
With young children in tow, it is often easier to avoid the challenges of a lengthy journey and packing light. France is a great destination, which is easy to reach by car. Being able to drive means you have plenty of packing space and the convenience of having your car to visit the sites and attractions of the local area.
Ideally any family holiday should be close to open spaces, where children can run, play and hopefully enjoy greater freedom and experience different things than they can at home. To keep children happy, look for destinations that are close to beautiful beaches, farms or zoos, play areas and a swimming pool. Our campsites in Vendee tick all of these boxes and more! For a start, we offer Carisma Kids Clubs on all our French campsites, providing fun activities for children aged 5 to 12 years old and a bit of a rest for parents.
No matter how long you are away, your family holiday should last a long time. Firstly, the anticipation and countdown to the holiday, then the time when you are there, followed by happy memories for many years to come.
