If you're looking to enjoy a beach holiday during the summer of 2014, then you won't go far wrong by booking to travel to the beautiful French region of the Vendee.
Home to some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe, the Vendee was, once upon a time, a secret among locals, who would travel here during the summer months to enjoy the natural beauty.
In recent decades, however, it has become popular among those from further afield, not least because of the impressive collection of beaches that can be found here.
We're going to try to narrow down these beaches by highlighting some of the best ones and explaining their unique appeal.
This beach isn't the sort of place where you can sunbathe or enjoy those sorts of activities. If you're a bit of a nature lover, however, you're in for a nice surprise.
That's because as the tide is rising you're likely to come across some spectacular sights, including egrets and other wading birds.
So if you have remembered to take a camera on your camping holiday in France then you're bound to capture some amazing shots.
Bois de la Chaize
But if bathing is your thing, then Bois de la Chaize may be the ideal destination for you, owing to the fact that it is a spectacular location in which to relax and unwind, leaving your everyday stresses behind.
Here, you will find some old-fashioned beach huts, which help to give the area an old-world vibe.
And while parking can prove difficult, this does give you the chance to either cycle to the beach or arrive on foot - perfect if you enjoy the great outdoors.
There are, of course, lots of alternative beaches to choose from - but these two, for different reasons, rank among the best of them.
