Family adventures in the Vendee  03/02/2014

The Vendee is a brilliant destination for a family break, especially if you and your children have an adventurous streak. Everything from climbing through forest canopies to dinosaur encounters is possible here, making this an unbeatable place for some family fun.

Below is a selection of the best adventures families can have together.

Chateau des Aventuriers

If your family want the chance to explore a stunning Renaissance castle, as well as enact a pirate adventure and even meet dinosaurs, Chateau des Aventuriers is for you. You can take a tour of the castle to get yourselves in the adventurer spirit, before setting off on one of the four courses to be found in the 86-hectare grounds.

These include a pirate adventure where you'll have puzzles to solve, with the ultimate goal of finding a magic medal! Kids wanting to burn off some energy, meanwhile, can do so at the Dinosaurs and Prehistory playground, where they'll find lurking dinosaurs - complete with sound effects!

Le Grand Defi - Parcours Aventure

In Saint Julien des Lanes is the tree-top adventure course, Le Grand Defi. Perfect for daring kids and grownups alike, this attraction includes a variety of fun trails that come with thrilling zip wire sections and exciting lake crossings.

What's more, there are courses suitable for children as young as two years old, which means it really is a place the whole family can enjoy. And it's also close to one of the biggest paintball centres in the Vendee if you fancy adding even more excitement to your day.

City Zebres

A must-visit during any family break in the Vendee, City Zebres in La Roche sur Yon is a massive indoor adventure playground, catering to kids up to 12 years old.

The two play areas are divided up by age, with one for babies to three-year-olds, and the other for kids aged four to 12. These play areas include everything from climbing frames and rope bridges to slides and ball crawls. Plus, there's a great cafe where parents can unwind.
