Whether you are spending the school holidays at home, or abroad, we all know that it is far easier to keep children entertained when the sun shines. A paddling pool or sprinkler in the garden, or a swimming pool at your holiday destination can keep children of all ages happy and cool for hours. A sand pit or beach can keep them occupied with a digging, building and destroying project and a local park provides the opportunity to make new friends and invent new games.
A Carisma holiday combines these simple pleasures with plenty of added extras to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the family holiday. We offer self-catering accommodation on French campsites with heated pools and in easy reach of France’s west coast beaches. Whilst a holiday provides a rare opportunity to enjoy important family time, we understand that providing a range of activities for all ages means everyone can return with happy memories.
Our campsite in Messanges is a great example. It boasts direct access to the beach, a complex of eight swimming pools and great accommodation with outside decks, where you can relax in the warm evenings. In addition, we run a children’s club, with a range of sports, craft and social activities. Your children can be entertained in a safe and welcoming environment, so you can enjoy a refreshing swim, relax in the sun or take advantage of the recently opened spa facilities.
For older children, the Messanges site includes a games room, basketball, tennis and badminton courts and a gym. Children can enjoy a trip around the park on horseback, or head off on a pony trek. The campsite is close to a skate park and trips to try rafting, canoeing and quad biking can be booked on-site.
Self-catering holidays give you maximum freedom and convenience. You can choose to shop at the local markets and supermarkets to prepare meals that all the family will enjoy, or you can opt for a meal in a local restaurant. At Messanges there is an on-site restaurant, as well as a pizzeria, creperie and bar, so you can enjoy a night off cooking and washing up duties.
Whilst there are a wealth of activities and a good selection of modern facilities within the campsite, it is worth exploring the sites beyond the campsite walls. Vieux Boucau is within walking distance and bike hire on the campsite will allow you to explore the coast, as well as the inland pine forests and lakes. There is a bus stop just outside the campsite, which gives you the option to explore further afield, or you can simply hop in the car.
Many visitors to our campsites use them as a convenient base to explore the surrounding area. From Messanges, you can easily drive to Bordeaux to discover more about the wine making traditions, visit the spa town of Dax, or visit Bayonne, capital of the French Basque country, where ham and hot chocolate are the two specialities.
