Off Peak Season  25/11/2016

Temperatures in Vendee have been around 18 – 19 degrees over the last week and this seems to be continuing into November. The UK has experienced warmer than average temperatures in recent weeks. On sunny days at the end of October and start of November, we have seen more blue sky and sunshine than on many days in July and August. The same can be said for our neighbours in France. As an example, temperatures in Vendee have been around 18 – 19 degrees over the last week and this seems to be continuing into November. None of us can predict the weather and even with data from state of the art equipment, weather forecasters often get it wrong. We often see unusually warm spells much earlier or later in the season than expected and can equally feel disappointed when long hot summers fail to materialise. The lesson to be learnt is that the time of year isn’t a guarantee of favourable weather conditions. At times an off-peak holiday could deliver the warm sunshine that we’ve been wishing for. French Holiday Season From the middle of July until the third week of August, the majority of French families take their summer holiday. As France is such a diverse country, with expansive beaches, cultural cities, mountainous regions and rural countryside, many French families prefer to stay in their own country, rather than travel abroad. This means that during the peak French holiday season, the coastal resorts are busier and prices go up. It does mean there is a real buzz in the towns, on the beaches and at the many local attractions, which can add to the excitement. A wide variety of extra events are put on during this main tourist season too, so there is plenty to see and do. If you aren’t tied to taking a holiday during the peak season, you can get great weather and good value by booking an earlier holiday in May or June, or a later September break. Off peak holidays also mean that you may discover empty beaches, queue free attractions and plenty of available tables in restaurants. French Campsites Carisma’s campsites open from May until September. This means that our holiday guests can make the most of long days, warm evenings and a choice of peak and off peak dates. All our sites offer direct access to the beach, as well as including good on-site facilities including heated pools and family entertainment. They are all located relatively close to popular beach resorts and tourist attractions, so you have all you need for a great holiday experience.
