Your dream holiday might involve relaxing in luxury on an all-inclusive Caribbean Island or trekking around some remote backwater, but when children arrive, holiday plans tend to change. The reality of long haul flights, hot climates and unfamiliar foods is far from a fun experience with youngsters in tow. When you factor in delays at the airport, and fitting all the toddler essentials into a tight luggage allowance, it can be a recipe for disaster.
If you are looking for a toddler friendly destination, why not follow in the footsteps of many global tourists and head to France? A hop across the channel offers expansive beaches, rolling countryside and many sites of cultural interest. It gives you an opportunity to experience a foreign country, but one which at the same time offers reassuring familiarity.
One of the first benefits of a holiday in France is the option to drive. Your car boot and even roof box allows you to bring the often bulky items that you use on a daily basis, including pushchairs and even a supply of their favourite foods. At a Carisma campsite, we can also help to make your stay more convenient, by providing well-equipped mobile home accommodation and the option of hiring additional extras.
A car journey means that you can travel whilst the children sleep and make regular stops for your toddler to get out and run around when they wake. With regular ferry services and the Euro Tunnel, it is easy to head over to France and then it is a 4-6 hour drive to our Brittany or Vendee Campsites.
If you are worried about the weather, Southern Brittany typically has slightly warmer temperatures than the UK and further down the coast, Vendee benefits from a micro-climate, which means it shares average sunshine hours with the Mediterranean coast. Whilst it can’t compete with an exotic island, it does mean that you don’t have to spend the day trying to keep your toddler in the shade to prevent them getting hot, bothered and irritable.
Kitted out in shorts and t-shirts, a sun hat and a good dollop of sun cream, your son or daughter will enjoy having fun on the beach. In addition all of our sites have swimming pool complexes, play areas and other child friendly facilities and our couriers can provide information on local events and attractions that might be of interest.
Self-catering accommodation also provides maximum freedom to stick to your toddler’s mealtime routine. With days spent running about in the fresh sea air and splashing in the pool, you may even experience improvements in their sleep pattern!
