Brittany in Northern France is easy to reach by Ferry and depending on your port, a couple of hours in the car will take you to our campsite. Brittany is an unspoilt region with a rugged coastline, hidden coves and historic architecture. It has a rich history, for a long time independent of the rest of France and the culture of Breton is still celebrated in local festivals. Two examples are July’s Festival de Cornouaille in Quimper and the InterCeltic Festival in Lorient during August.
Amongst its many delights, Brittany is home to the Benedictine Abbey of Mont St Michel, traditional fishing harbours, marinas full of luxury yachts, medieval towns and the Kermario standing stones in Carnac, which are said to rival Stonehenge. Off the mainland are a number of islands which can be visited by local boat tours including Ile d’Ouessant and Ile de Groix.
